The Price, By Arthur Miller
The Price is a strong, moving family drama written by Arthur Miller in 1968. Victor Franz, together with his wife Esther, is taking a last look at the soon-to-be-demolished house where he grew up. He is there to agree "the price" for the family possessions with Gregory Soloman, a wily furniture dealer. Just as they are on the verge of coming to an agreement, Victor's estranged brother Walter arrives. The two brothers have not seen each other for 15 years and, as Walter tries to effect an uneasy reconciliation, we understand the devastating effect the Great Depression had on the family and "the price" that the characters have paid for the life choices they have made.
